About Us
Coronation Lodge Rest Home has been caring for older New Zealanders from its home in Welbourn, New Plymouth. We're a small, 22-bed facility — and that's something we're genuinely proud of.
Being small means we know our residents by name. It means staff build real relationships with the people in their care, and families feel welcomed rather than processed. We don't see ourselves as an institution. We see ourselves as a home.
Who We Are
Coronation Lodge is a certified residential care facility, purpose-built for older adults who need a supported living environment. We hold a Ministry of Health certification and operate as a Stage Two Rest Home, providing care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
We always have staff on site, with a Registered Nurse either on duty or available on call at all times — so families can rest easy knowing their loved one is looked after around the clock.

What Makes Us Different
Home-like, not hospital-like. We've made a deliberate choice to stay small. With just 22 beds, Coronation Lodge has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that larger facilities simply can't replicate. There's no sense of being lost in the crowd here.
Care that's personal. Every resident is an individual — with their own history, preferences, cultural background, and needs. We take the time to understand who each person is, and we tailor our care accordingly. Independence, privacy, and dignity aren't just words to us; they guide everything we do.
Experienced, compassionate staff. Our team is experienced in aged care and genuinely committed to the people they look after. For many of our staff, this isn't just a job — it's a calling.
A full range of care options. Whether your loved one needs long-term rest home care, a short respite stay, day care, rehabilitation support, or palliative care, we have the services and expertise to help. We also offer supported/assisted living for those who want a little extra support while maintaining their independence.
Our Values
We believe that every person in our care deserves:
-
Respect — for who they are and what they've lived
-
Dignity — in every interaction, every day
-
Independence — as much as each person wants and is able to enjoy
-
Belonging — a genuine sense that this is their home, not just a facility
We're also strong advocates for our residents. We believe it's our role to speak up for the people in our care and ensure their rights are upheld at every turn.

A Word About Family
We know that choosing a rest home for someone you love is one of the hardest decisions a family can face. We don't take that lightly.
We encourage families to visit, ask questions, and take the time they need to feel confident. If you'd like to come and have a look around, we'd love to meet you.
